Great location in town

Great location allows for short walks along ocean front and into town. The home itself has a musty 'old cellar' smell and the furnishings are quite worn. However, it was clean and the kitchen has all the accessories for any cook. Local management gets '5 stars rating' for responding quickly to an issue we had. Would definitely work with Ocean Odyssey Vacation Rentals again. However, will pass on another stay at 'Doc's.

Trip to Yachats 2025

Loved Yahacts. Had never been there before. The house is quite old. Even tho the windows have been replaced many did not have screens. So opening for the ocean air brought bugs in. Furniture in living room was very uncomfortable. The worst thing was that we could not view the ocean from the living room. The back yard shrubs have overgrown, are really ugly and obscure the ocean view.

the bushes are so tall the view is blocked from the house. There are no outside lights on the house. I fell in the dark and am still very sore may need to see doctor.

A stormy start to a sunshine week

Thunder, lightning, 60 mph wind and torrential rain greeted us followed by a 6 r power outage. Things settled down to balmy winter weather which allowed for planned outdoor recreation.

This cabin was perfect for the four of us! Clean, cozy and very comfortable. The view is amazing and the walking trail along the ocean is perfect! We will stay here again.

Watch crashing waves and seabirds
This location is amazing! Walk a few steps out the door, and you're standing above the rocky surf. A short drive in either direction yields lots of Oregon experiences. Inside is cozy and comfortable.

Pilgrimage to the ocean
First let me say Ocean Odyssey is a wonderful company to work with. As far as the cottage goes it was lacking is a couple areas. While they allow pets there is no grass. Front and back is some shrubby plants..we knew the ocean views would limited because of how far back the house sits but then these shrubs blocked it even more. It would be ok for a couple days but we were there for 3 weeks. Inside and furniture typical of some lower end rentals we have stayed at before. Love staying in the village so we can walk. Good location for that.but we come here for the ocean views so the lack of that and no grass is why we will not stay there again.

thsd place had a very musty, mildewy smell. Overwhelming a bit especially as you first enter. It was clean to look at but....

Cozy Beach stsy

Would have stayed longer if time had allowed and would stay here again. Do cozy and beachy, felt right at home. Beautiful view and so close to everything we never used car. Probably due a bathroom update, especially the shower, but nothing I’m gonna gripe over. Lovely!

Wonderful little house

Super cute and cozy house with a beautiful view of the ocean. There’s an amazing little beach with tide pools only one house over and down a little trail. The house was clean and very homey. It’s in a great location and close to downtown Yachats.

Perfect location
You can walk anywhere in the small town. The cabin is old with some wear but very comfy with a great view. The bath is very compact as is the cabin but access to the bath is separate from the bedrooms so would work if the two bedrooms are occupied.

Nice Stay at Doc's Retreat
Doc's retreat is at a great location with great views of the ocean and convenient to nearby town attractions and beach access. The house itself is nice, but could use some TLC and updating. The backyard is not totally fenced in for dogs, but is manageable. The listing shows it can handle 6 people, but with one bathroom, we found 4 people was a practical limit.

Vintage Yachats

Doc's Retreat was a classic Yachats home from a simpler time. We enjoyed the quaint cottage and were extremely comfortable. Shower is quite small and the washing machine very finicky. The view from the outdoor bench is not only amazing, but the crashing surf brings a sense of peace and calm. We've visited Yachats from Texas for 10 years now and would be delighted to stay in this home again. Walking distance to town and exceptional food is easily accessible. The 804 trail, Cape Perpetua, Heceta Head and other excellent hiking areas are nearby.

Great stay in an awesome village
Property is older and basic, but very clean and had everything we needed. Excellent location to watch the ocean all day long, and walk to the village center for food and supplies, or get on the 804 trail. On a quiet road. Property managers were great when communication was needed.

Yachats birthday celebration

Wonderful place to stay for my great grandson's birthday. We have had family reunions in the Yachats area since the 1970s. My only complaint is the "sleeper" couch. My daughter and her husband had to put the mattress on the floor, and even then it was not comfortable. Please do not advertise this as a sleeping option. Even as a couch, not folded out, it is too short for one person to sleep on unless they are pretty short.
Loved watching the waves come in, and only a short walk to paths down to the rocks/beach (depending on tide).

Quaint seaside retreat

Docs Retreat has a stellar location with a stunning view from its backyard bench. A older home with an odd entrance, once you walk inside the home it’s cozy and very functional. No recent remodel, older furniture, but we fell in love with Docs retreat in quick order. The main bedroom has a high profile height firm bed that is very near the single bathroom. The second bedroom has a softer bed and a very small closet, and is on the other side of living room. The kitchen is fully stocked with silverware and dishes, pans. A dishwasher and w/d make the stay completely fuss free. There are exceptional views from the kitchen and living room windows, though the backyard bushes were a bit overgrown when we were there. The back yard is deep, but the observation bench is easily accessed by a cement walkway. There are books and movies and dvds..all the electronics you need, cable tv with Netflix, and other smart tv features. A wood burning stove in the living room, though we didn’t use. Every room has a wall heater that warms you up quickly. A vacume cleaner is available in the hot water heater closet if your stay is long. We stayed 3 weeks and would go again in a heartbeat. One caveat, we told property mgrs about a broken blind in the living room, they didn’t offer to fix the blind so we placed it on the sill, and had sun in our eyes for 3 weeks. We didn’t complain but it was a nuisance. For that reason I gave a 4/5 rating.

Great Location
Doc's Retreat is an early 60's beach cabin--well-worn furniture, linoleum floor, small rooms, kitschy wall art. It fit our needs and expectations perfectly. The kitchen was very well-stocked, if somewhat haphazardly organized. The bathroom was small but had plenty of towels. The beds were comfy. The location was ideal. The downside was that the windows are small, so a good cross-breeze was impossible, and the window in the bathroom doesn't open at all. Access to the sandy beach through a nearby park was convenient, and the nearby 804 Trail provided access to a rocky beach. I'd stay here again.

Quiet, Clean, Comfortabe

Very comfortable & cozy, I call it a beach cabin vibe. Very clean and well stocked. The outside and particularly the entryway could use some TLC, but ignore it, it is not reflective of the inside. Comfortable furniture and bed, we especially appreciated the excellent lighting! Perfect location for visiting Yachats, no more than a half mile walk to anything. We did not use our car all week. Excellent eating i n Yachats. We will be back!

This property was all it purported to be. Although the bathroom is small, it was clean and having a shower was best for us. The cabin is a bit rustic, but the views were amazing and all the restuarants and shops were nearby.

Beach retreat

The house had a great view of the ocean with beach access not very far away. Everything was clean and ready for us. We did find sheets left in the dryer. My only complaint about the property is that there were no outside lights. Fortunately we arrived before it got to dark to unload the car. Since it was raining I probably wouldn't have unloaded the car if it was dark dur to safety. Otherwise it was great.

The view and location make this rental. The kitchen is well stocked. Doc's retreat makes a great "base camp". Ocean Odessy is always professional, nice, and helpful. We stay in Yachats frequently and always use them.

Cozy little cottage

Great location, cozy cottage. Very clean with comfortable beds, would recommend more comfort furniture for lounging in the main part of the house though. Loved having the wood stove, and being able to bring our dogs, and the view was awesome. It was a perfect little get away for the weekend and would stay again!

A functional arrangement of furniture with a good mattress in the small main bedroom. Shower was tiny and door out of plumb, but plenty of towels were provided. Great wood stove. Dangerous entrance with no outside lighting and dated concrete ramp though. The view from the front window is not as good as the website photo. Someone left a plate of dirty? in the top shelf of the pantry.

The location of the home on a bluff with a beautiful view of the ocean. Walking distance to town, library and trails. This home is great for kids and dogs. The decor is practical, funky but functional. We enjoyed our stay here with our 2 dogs. Peter, the property manager was very helpful.

2. The house is described as pet friendly, but I still would not expect the excessive amount of pet hair present in the carpet and chairs. Luckily I was not allergic to whatever breeds were represented. Otherwise, cleanliness was acceptable.
3. Some minor problems--unworking coffeemaker, broken unusable kitchen window shade, illegible instructions for washer and dryer use.

Rustic Charm beautifully situated
The ocean was raging and the sun was shining, a perfect blend of winter conditions. There was a constant rumble of ocean waves crashing on the rocks just beyond the property line. It was spectacular.

this was a wonderful place to stay and would do so again. the only difference I would request that a whole roll of TP(not a partial) be available and the clean dishes in the dish washer would be put away. we walked all over and enjoyed the view! thank you Ocean Odyssey and the owner of the home for sharing.

Amazing view!

No way to sugar coat it, Doc's place is funky. It is in need of repairs and updating. But it has everything you need and is comfortable enough. And you can't beat the view. It was very stormy the three days we were there and it was so relaxing to sit next to the fire and watch the waves crash. If you want location and don't mind a little funky, I would definitely recommend.

Unfortunately, we were only able to stay 2 days due to a death in the family. The house I cute, could use some updates, but didn't bother us. I called Ocean Odyssey multiple times to let them know we had to leave and possibly get money back and then they could rerent it, but nobody called me back. That was my only dissapointment.

Perched on the cliff
This is a cozy little house that fit us just fine. Sitting on the bench I felt like a bird perched on the cliffs watching the waves roll in. The fire place warmed the house perfectly while watching the rain outside. It’s location was great for walking into town or to the beach just north.

Breathtaking Views

Overall, we had a great experience. For the price in the summer, it seemed steep for what it was, a little outdated. My husband required outlets for medical equipment. Ocean Odyssey answered our requests immediately. Being limited mobility for my husband and our love of outdoors, the limited outdoor area behind the home was a little bit of a let down. I would definitely come out again, just a different property for us (with a child) to play outside more.
