The Cottage by the Sea is a fantastic ocean front home that is on a bluff with outstanding cliff side views.
This is a warm, comfortable, and welcoming cottage that has a newly remodeled fireplace in the living room.
This cozy hideaway is a small group favorite.
There is no direct beach access, but state beaches are an easy drive away both to the south and north one mile.

A breath of sea air to celebrate a birthday
What a spectacular view of the ocean. Spring weather brought sun, clouds,rain and a mighty storm, yet we were safe and secure in this charming beach cottage. We celebrated 71 years of life and 50 years of marriage.

Great place for two.
Very nice place,nice view, access to the beach was a few miles away to the south, (we went south could have gone north). It would've been nice if there was a way to shut the security door without having to lock it instead of having to use the rock which was provided. We happened to be there during a very windy and rainy time. The rock wasn't enough to hold the door shut.The picture windows were covered with salt spray,however there was a hose hooked up and easy to use to get rid the salt that was on the windows.I think next time we'll try and plan for better weather. We will stay there again. Good place to eat in Yachats.

Overall, it was good. The panoramic views of the ocean from the house were the best. A little close to 101. You can hear the traffic and getting safely in and out of the driveway to 101 was a little hazardness. It was nice to have a large working fireplace. It could been cleaner (there was pet haiir around). The baseboard heaters didn't all work, and the place needs updating of furniture and fixtures. The sauna is ancient. I tried it and felt it was more a hazard to use.

Views were beautiful from dining room and Livingroom. No cell service, locks on both doors were almost impossible to unlock. Could not find outdoor garbage receptacle. House needs serious TLC.

Cottage by the sea Yachats

We were pleased to find the cottage very clean and well taken care of. The best feature was the windows and the views they offered - gorgeous. It was small but adequate for two or three and a dog!
Recommendations: Clear out all the extra stuff in kitchen cupboards and add more silverware and serving bowls.
Do something about the shower - it was not suitable for older folk with the steps down.
The yard was not fenced, and the rope would not be safe enough for smaller children. We did keep our dog on a leash the whole time - it is quite a drop off.
We would stay again even without the cell service the peace and quiet were very much needed.
We missed the cottage and had to drive back to it. Better signage?

Everything we needed, close to town. Mostly in good repair. Boardwalk to back door is very uneven, and a screen door on front entrance would be GREAT! Still, we would book this location again.

The home was clean, the view and location was great, the Odyssey staf were very helpful. The bed was too soft for our liking and a bit rolly polly. The kitchen was adequately supplied. We would consider staying there again.

Breathtaking Views
This little beach cabin was my grandpa and grandma's place years ago. It still has wonderful ocean views and sounds of the waves crashing over a crackling fireplace at night. You could easily sit inside and look out the window with your favorite book during bad weather just for the views. While it was nice to see much was unchanged from 25+ years ago, this cabin needs some updating and TLC.

The Cottage by the Sea is so cozy and sweet as a getaway that you will be checking the calendar for the next open week right away!
As a stay-home-and-read place you will happily rest on the sofa or the cushy oversized armchair, looking out the several large windows facing the sea and lookup along the shore. With few homes along the way you will feel like it is just you and the sea.
For travelling about you have lovely Yachats just north and Florence not too far south, and miles of rugged, lovely Oregon coast. Access to the highway is usually easy, though on crowded days you will want to plan your approach to the cottage.
You will have a full kitchen, though narrow, with everything you need for a stay, and cabinet space to stock in your own groceries. The (low-water) washer and dryer are comparatively quiet but reliable. The internet is up to 10Mbps, 7-9Mbps up, and was quite reliable over the few days of our stay. Streaming worked well on the provided Roku.
The bed is soft and comfy. With the window open a little you can hear the ocean as you never stops. The shower/bath is dated but working well. The included sauna is a unique touch, to be used with care.
Overall the cottage is a uniquely lovely stay. We are already making our plans for a longer future stay. It is an absolutely beautiful retreat!

My special "Give myself a hug" place
I have rented this charming older home that has the most awesome ocean views since 2012. It is a special place to stay. This charming 1 bedroom is furnished with some very tasteful sea decor and a big comfortable chair where I can sit and view the ocean and amazing sunsets thru large windows. The owner recently installed some great sun blocking shades and a new bed that was awesome to sleep on . I have always found this place to be comfortable and met my needs of being able to prepare my meals,read and set up the dinning table as my jigsaw puzzel work area all with ocean views from big wiidows. A short drive or walk to Stonefield beach gives you hours of some of the best beach walking from flat streches of sand to rocky outcropping to explore at low tide for treasures from the sea. Unfortunately this year housekeeping was not up to what I have come to expect and there was signs of children who may have not been well supervised. Possibly the cleanup from that took away from some of the other touch ups I have come to expect.

This was our 2nd time staying at the cottage by the sea. We love the location and really like the cottage. This time we were not impressed with the cleanliness of the kitchen and living room. The kitchen was greasy and had a dirty feel on all appliances. The living room had pet hair all over the floor (glad we dont have pet allergies). Other than these 2 issues it was good like 1st trip. We did appreciate the new darkening shades which helped keep it cool. A fan of some sort would be of great help cooling the home in the evening.

Little house above the Pacific Ocean= Quiet & Relaxing
So many good things to say about this little house. Character, quiet, away from the world! Great views from many sides. Beautiful fireplace! Collections of shells and small messages reminding the visitors to relax and let go. It is not a perfect place (there were some glitches in things that made our vacation a bit goofy. e.g. communication about the lock situation would have helped immensely. The owners have thought of everything else. We were prepared to not be able to access the beach from the house and the the south a little drive down is a wonderful place to go exploring. This would be a perfect house for a honeymoon (very romantic). Watching the sunset and listening to the ocean was stupendous. Great little house! Thank You for gibing is the opportunity to stay. Loved our stay.

Hands down the most amazing location. I love the pacific and there is nothing like having a piece to yourself. The house itself was okay. The bathroom shower feels like a little dungeon and could use a bit of updating. Still ... I LOVED it and really want to come back for longer.

This is a very comfortable place to stay with a really nice view. We saw a brush rabbit grazing on the lawn in the mornings and several turkey vultures would stop and rest on the lawn by the cliff edge.
We liked getting down to the ocean by taking the Seal Point Trail. It is part of Tokatee Klootchman state park and is a quarter mile south of the house.
There is a sign at the trail head and a small parking spot across the highway. The short trail goes through a cool tunnel of trees and dense salal before emerging on the bluff where around 20 seals can be seen in the water and/or resting on the rocks.
We were able to get down to the shore by going either north or south from the bluff. It is less steep going north. There is a decent sized cave down there to hang out in and there are some tide pools to explore at low tide.

Just what me and the wife needed!!

We were looking for a small, quiet & private place right on the ocean for our honeymoon and this was perfect. We really enjoyed how it seemed like we were all by ourselves yet we could drive to lots of things in under 30min. There is a litehouse, restaurants, shops and not to mention the ocean. It was great to also be able to get groceries and use the full kitchen to cook any meal and they even had a BBQ grill and I made steaks while hearing the waves break on the shore. There was an issue with the stereo not working but hardly anything that will deter us from returning. We are already planning our next trip and hope to make may returns in the future.
We are so happy you enjoyed your stay.

Way more than we expected!

The cottage was perfect for a weekend getaway. Nearby beaches are great for throwing the stick for a dog, and the scenic State Park trails were a quick drive up the coast. Highly recommend this great deal! One thing to keep in mind is when arriving, be sure to search 95010 U.S. 101, FLORENCE, OR. Our GPS did not pick up the address unless we specified the city of Florence.

Great couples get away
Loved the place. Beautiful view! Direction could be a little more detailed -- perhaps a reference to mile markers. Also, was listed as fenced yard, but there was no gate to the front yard --- dog could get to the highway. Yard was perfect for sitting out in the sun and seeing a small pod of whales swim north.

Spur of the Moment Weekend
I rented the Cottage by the Sea on Friday morning and got there Friday night. The location and view with the big picture windows was exactly what I was looking for. The bedroom heaters worked well by not the living room ones, but we got a great fire going in the fireplace and it helped. There was a drawer broken in the kitchen but other that that things worked fine....washing machine a bit funky. Borrowed lawn chairs and sat on the beach all afternoon and read.

Cottage by the Sea in December

Hard to find: took us 1.5 hrs and finally a call to emergency line to find out it's 7.5m south of Yachats. Generally very clean but there were mice droppings in cupboards and the water wasn't working right: orangey at first, constant sputtering. We washed all dishes so we could use and put in our tubs. The next day the office staff was very gracious and sent someone to fix the water immediately and contacted pest control. The bed was insanely comfortable, view outstanding, and we enjoyed the little things that made it more than just a rental like books, games, etc. It felt like staying in a friend's home. On a "cliff" over looking sea (20ft up?) with no beach access, just .5 m from 10mile bridge and access to beach. We really loved the town of Yachats and are looking forward to returning!

Waves of Serenity
Charming home with fantastic views, warm and cozy. A very comfortable bed, large bath and cozy sauna. Felt housekeeping was not up to par compared with last years visit, had to take care of some things myself to make my stay more at ease. With a little luck I will be able to return again next year as I've fallen in love with this "Little Cottage by the Sea".

First and foremost one must give Wendy and the staff the highest of accolades for their courtesy, kindness, professionalism, consideration, and attention to detail. They set it up for your vacation experience!!!
Minor Complaints
-Fireplace was full of ash and wood on arrival.
-Sauna inoperable, adds to ambience.
-Screen door off could not get fresh cooling air in without numerous flies.
-Wood loose on side entry porch.
-Wood loose on trash container.
-Both BBQ grill and folding chairs have been there for my three visits, not in great shape and should be replaced.
While the new arbor area is nice. The amount of money expended would be better served on above mentioned deferred maintenance.
Did I mention how fantastic, cooperative, and over the top Wendy and the staff at Ocean Odyssey were!!! SIX STARS for them.

Amazing
We had an amazing time at The Cottage By the Sea. The house is decorated wonderfully. Our only complaint is how much of the last day's cleaning we had to do. Usually the housekeeping staff does the towels, etc.
We only ask that you start the towels in the wash.

Cottage by the Sea

Most relaxing time we've had in a long time! We loved Cottage by the Sea, but would have loved it more if we could open windows to hear the ocean. We'd like a place where we can walk out the door and go for a walk, which we couldn't do here. But, the Cottage was clean, comfortable and had great views. We had a hard time finding it, but Property management person gave us good directions and called to make sure we got there. Good customer service!
