Perfect Location!

Cute place to stay with a perfect location. We truly enjoyed staying here and I guess our only complaint would be that we were only left with 1 garbage bag and 1 roll of paper towels and no cleaners at all to wipe down the counters after using them. Also I believe the entire house just had 4-5 towels, so when we showered, we had to use the towels we were using for drying our hands. Other than that, we had a fantastic stay. ��We’ve been using Ocean Odyssey for the past 16 years and they are always a pleasure to work with.

Amazing Week in January, Terrific Rental Company

We've been renting a house through Ocean Odyssey 3x/yr for 15 years. Unfortunately that house was taken out of rental pool for repairs. So, in January this year we rented the Tillicum house next door. We LOVE the huge uncrowded beach and Yachats. Our weather was like summer. The little house was neat as a pin right on the beach. Peter at Ocean Odyssey made everything easy. If there is ever any problem he is right there to take care of it. We have rented from him for all those years and consider him a good friend by now. Super good person. We recommend him and Kady (Partner at Ocean Odyssey) AND Ocean Odyssey absolutely!!

Christmas at Tillicum

This is the second Christmas we’ve spent here. It’s a great place and midway between Portland and Coos Bay to get the family together. We love the house and the beach is amazing.

The house was in a great location with easy access to the beach. At night it was relaxing to soak in the hot tub and look at the stars above us. I wish the beds were bigger a full size is hard for two adults. The mattresses need to be replaced they are very worn out. The furniture in the living room needs replaced as well

Disappointed in this home, but would still use this company
Home was not something I would stay in. I didn't sleep the first night after a long day of travel and getting to the home late at night. It was so smelly and felt so dirty I couldn't sleep. If it wasn't so late, I would have left the first night. I thought about sleeping in my car actually. Very unfortunate because the location, access to the beach, and the deck is absolutely amazing!
This home definitely did not reflect the previous experience I have had staying at another property from this company. My previous experience at a different home was lovely and very clean!
This home was quite dirty, it was almost as if it cleaned quickly on the surface. Deep clean it is in much need of. The house had a very, very strong smell of pets. I am a pet person and can tolerate a lot, but this was too much. Stains on the carpet and couches. Looked like a small amount of blood at the top of the sheet on the bed. Bed pillows smelled gross, very old and flat and no pillow protectors, just the pillow case and one pillow case looked to have dirt on it. Washer and dryer had grass and pine needles in it. Hadn't been cleaned along the side of the bed and the dresser, there were feathers and a clothing tag. Very unfortunate. Vertical blinds were filthy and had stains on them. Just didn't feel comfortable at all staying in this house. Didn't even bring in my bags. Called first thing the next morning and told them I couldn't stay another night.
I was really surprised at all the good reviews of this place. There was only one bad one that was from a few years ago. I wish I would have gone off that review and found another property from this company. I would not recommend this property to anyone, however, I would recommend the company, may need to ask more direct questions about properties before staying in them from now on.

Incredible Ocean Front Home

This home has excellent beach access even for those of us over 60. The home itself is very comfortable and the views from the deck are perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee or tea. Reynolds Creek is a few steps away and is just beautiful. Breathtaking sunrise and sunset views makes it feel like you are alone in paradise, no exaggeration.
The shared driveway access makes it feel less private but only until you get inside and then you see you are surrounded by the marvelous hedges housing birds and bunnies.
The home could use a new set of pots and pans, but we managed and it didn’t detract from the fact that we had a very peaceful and relaxing stay.

Summer vacation

Have stayed in this area for many years and this house some years back. We loved being on the beach and the various things to do within an hours up and down the coast. The Kitchen could use more silverware and some decent new pans,but that was our only complaint.

Nice location but could use some cleaning
It was nice to be right next to the beach with a view and easy access for walks. The yard and hot tub were enjoyable. Not so nice was the furniture inside the house, which was visibly stained. It would be easy enough to buy furniture covers if they did not want to replace the couch and chair. The windows had also not been cleaned in a long time. Towels had better days, there were large holes in one of them. Listing also said that it had a functioning grill, but when we tried to use it to cook dinner, we found it to be out of propane. Beds were also quite bouncy so if one person moved, it woke the other person up.

Easy access to beautiful beach

We loved this place for a few reasons. It was very clean and was stocked better than most places we stayed. Not because it had so much stuff, but because it had fewer things but they covered a wide range of needs and were organized so well. Most places have doubles and triples of things you don’t need and you have to look through every drawer to find what you do need. The path to the beach was well maintained and safe. The beds actually had very good mattresses. If you cracked a window the oceans roar was wonderful. The living room furniture was comfortable enough but in need of cleaning. There is no fireplace which for me is disappointing and the property sits on Highway 101 so you can hear traffic. It has a lovely deck, good barbecue. Kitchen appliances need updating. We’re going back this summer, so I guess that’s the biggest positive. And Ocean Odyssey is one of the best coastal agencies we’ve ever dealt with.

Yachats Beach
A nice older property with two bedrooms, perfect for my wife and my sister and our small dog. Great access to the beach aside from a stickery Backyard it was practically perfect. We did have to carry our dog from the deck to the path because of the stickers. It would’ve been nice to have lounge chairs on the deck, but we managed just fine. Overall

Only good thing was the view/beach

I will keep this simple as it is a limited space. DO NOT STAY HERE if you care about any of the following things:
- Ease of Use: No details about how things work- light switches control phone, internet, TV - not lights. It's all a guessing game. It was actually very concerning as it seems the wiring is a mess.
- Cleanliness: Home was Dirty! Shower curtain mold, skylight covered in poop, Dust Everywhere, cobwebs, flooding toilet, etc.
- Kitchen amenities: NO TOASTER??? Weird, right? Oven filthy, chipped dishes, not organized at all.
- Comfort: couches not comfortable, limited seating (not for 6 people), furniture filthy, patio chairs were gross, I have seen better towels for $3 at Goodwill - the ones at this home were rags.
- Extras: Hot tub shut off and we couldn't use it - property management came and fixed but it never got over 95 degrees.
I have rented homes on the coast for 8 years now and this is by far the worst. I loved the view and beach, but that didn't make up for the house. It was a mess and VERY disappointing. If all you care about is the view and the beach, fine. But don't think the home will be comfortable or clean. I'm not a snob and I don't care about size of home or anything, but I expect cleanliness and comfort and should be able to turn on the TV without an instruction manual. These things do not exists here. So many other options out there. Ocean Odyssey was great in helping us, but this home is a disaster and shouldn't be a rental. I wouldn't let my family stay here for free.

Private Beachfront Comfort

We loved staying in this clean, beautifully decorate private Beachfront home! We enjoyed walking directly out to the beach, with wonderful sunrises and sunsets. Tillicum beach is not crowded. In fact, you may often have the whole beach to yourself! A wonderful place to walk and unwind. We loved it!

Oceonside Tranquility
Our beachside rental home was great. Very central location, to explore all of the amazing sites and galleries. The home was very comfortable when we wanted to take a break from all of our site seeing. The home was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. We walked our beach several times, daily. Quiet Getaway

Celebrated our 50th anniversary here. The view from the house is amazing. We saw whales from the living room window and could hear the waves with the windows open. Nice trail to the beach but quite a walk to the water. Beach was pretty secluded. House could use some updating and maintenance. Hot tub was perfect. House was comfortable and I'd stay there again.

We had a wonderful time. The house was in great shape, clean and having a very short path down to the beach with a great hot tub to relax in. It is in close proximity to a number of nice attractions like the aquarium in Newport. If we had not had a couple of 2 year olds with us we would have enjoyed some of the many nearby hiking trails.

Great getaway!

Perfect location. Good communication and comfortable. This cozy home has everything you need for a lovely getaway. Things to know is that it is right on the road so if you're a light sleeper choose the bedroom off the living room. The kitchen is well stocked including coffee filters but do bring your own coffee. The path down to an almost private beach is amazing and you are very close to the charming town of Yachats. The hot tub was clean and kept us warm on the cold nights.

Great location
The house was cozy and quiet for our group of 6. We had the best time exploring the beach and river just steps away from the house. We were even blessed with eagles fishing. Just a short drive to Yachats is a great restaurant called Luna Sea. Just a short drive south is the must see Cape Perpetua. There are many other great spots for tide pools and agate/rock hunting: Neptune Beach, Beverly Beach, Strawberry Hill.

Just steps away from the beach which was beautiful and very few people. This is an older home that was cozy and comfortable. Communication with the property manager was not as timely as what I would like but it’s a great place to enjoy the beach. It’s right off Highway 101 but the traffic noise does not bother you because the roar of the ocean is right out the back door. We had a great time.

This home met all our expectations. It was clean, warm and comfortable. You have no trouble seeing the ocean from the front room windows and it's a short easy walk to the beach. The hot tub was clean and outside under the stars and very private. We had visitors of rabbits and hummingbirds.

This was our fourth or fifth stay at the Tillicum beach cottage. You can tell that we love to return. It was pet friendly, very private backyard with hot tub, private path to a little-used white sandy beach. I walked north to Waldport and south to your heart many times, all on sand. Two small bedrooms, two small bathrooms, everything adequate. This time there was a new living room furniture, which was lovely and comfortable. The washer and dryer are great. Small kitchen, dining room set that seats six. Part of the deck is covered enough to sit under on the sunny days. Kitchen was well appointed; we cooked 100% of our meals for a month. Good storage. Best of all, minor problems were handled with immediate responsiveness and friendliness by Peter, the manager. The Pacific coast highway is very close behind the house, just a short driveway away, but we did not hear it’s traffic sounds in the one bedroom we used, just the ocean waves with the window open. Big picture windows, fantastic views all the time of the close by beach. We will always try to return here. We have recommended it to two different families who have stayed here as well.

Perfect family rental
I was worried about this rental, with the pandemic & some of the reviews. The house definitely beat my expectations.
Due to the pandemic, we stayed in the house and the beach right in front of it for the vast majority of our 5 night visit. The view was perfect, it was easy to get to the beach (even for my 3 year old), and the kitchen was well equipped for feeding the family (way better than basic equipment). The house was comfortable & roomy with a good layout & plenty of bedding & towels. My kids were excited to find a box of toys in a closet, and the hot tub was nice & reasonably private. The house was clean & tidy when we arrived. My kids loved playing in the little stream running down the beach right behind the house. My 7 year old recommends shoes in the backyard due to the painfully spiky seed pods of the local dune grass. I would rent again, this was a great house for my family.
One tiny fix I would recommend: on the deck there are a couple of screws sticking up about an inch right in the middle of the steps to the hot tub.

Sweet bliss
Very cute and cozy home and we loved the view. Very clean. The hot tub was nice. The owner was amazing. Very nice and easy to talk to.
We didn’t get into town but on our way in, we did stop at South Beach Market for some delicious food. We will be recommending this house and rental company to others and will be using it in the future.
The beds and sofas however, weren’t the most comfortable. When we return, we will bring something to make the beds more comfortable.

Our second stay here, and we will return. Wonderful privacy, beautiful views and access to a white sandy beach with few visitors. Perfect view of a starry sky from the hot tub.We made all our own meals in the small but well equipped kitchen.

Perfect Easter Weekend

We had a great time at the "vintage" house on Tillicum Beach. Everything we needed for our Easter Weekend stay. Pet Friendly. EASY beach access. Very Private little back yard. Hot tub felt great and Love the fact they clean it after every guest instead of just throwing more chemicals in. Ocean Odyssey was great to work with and Peter was very prompt on answering any questions. Only one thing to beware of is that cell service is minimal but that was fine with us! Take Binoculars so you can watch all the night fishing going on. They really light up those boats. Thanks for a great stay Ocean Odyssey (Peter)

Wonderful. Older rugs and furnishings, nothing fancy here, but very comfortable, well explained, and everything works! Two sofas, a rocker, deck furniture, kids' beach toys, LOTS of storage space inside, efficient washer and dryer, two bathrooms each with shower and good hot water and water pressure. Great wi-fi. Kitchen with all you need to prepare meals (we rarely ate out and stayed 8 nights). We streamed entertainment from AmazonPrime and YouTube, took lots of beach walks with the dogs, loafed, played games at the big table, read a lot, loved the private outdoor hot tub which reached 105, wonderful! The house next door is big and has parties; since it's so near, we had more quiet on the weeknights than the weekend, but it was all still very private and peaceful. Could hear more ocean surf sounds than highway sounds. Just 4 m from Yachats and Waldport (to S. and N., resp.). Great customer service, all local and immediate. (we needed a little help with one light and the streaming, but got it right away.) A little lawn between house and the private trail to the beach was perfect for just those brief "goota pee" excursions for the dogs, esp. when the tide was up and we had to wait for a longer beach walk. Although lots of people go to the state park just south, it's separated from "our" beach by a high-flowing river estuary. There were days when there was NO ONE but us on "our" beach, and at the most there might be 2 or 3 walking. We saw a group of bald eagles, and even a baby seal on the beach (OR Fish and Wildlife advised us to leave it alone, which we were doing anyway. Safe and sound back in the sea by the next morning). We will return!

We stayed here for 4 nights over Thanksgiving. We used the hot tub a lot and enjoyed that, and the proximity to hiking south of Yachats is really convenient. This part of the coast is really nice. We were REALLY DISAPPOINTED that there is a hedge on the ocean side of the deck that is so tall you can't see the yard or ocean unless you're standing up.We rented a house right on the beach so that if the weather was bad, we'd still be able to enjoy the oceanview. I would not stay here again unless I knew that hedge was gone. It's great for privacy on the side yards but it shouldn't be blocking the view to the West. The home is a bit run down, old furnishings etc. which was fine. It would be nice if there were some instructions on how to use the TV set up and a VHS player for the old tapes on the shelf. Kitchen had new cookware.

Vacation at Tillicum

We had a great stay at Tillicum in Waldport. The house is great, you can't get much closer to the beach. The "river" next to the house is a great place for the kids to safely play in the water. My only complaints are 1) the house is a little hard to find because it isn't marked on the street with the correct address
2) the kitchen is small, not enough cabinet or counter space to store groceries 3) the house could use a more "beachie" feel.
It's a great place to stay, and there was plenty of room for all 6 of us, I would definitely recommend it!

Beach House at Tillicum
The folks at Ocean Odyssey were very accommodating. We had an issue with our hot tub in that it was not heating. The service call was promptly replied to and the issue fixed. However, it took pretty much all of Saturday and Sat evening to heat so we never used the hot tub. Also, the address sign on Hwy 101 was in the ditch, so we had a hard time finding the place in the dark.

Coastal getaway

We vacationed at this home during off-season. The house was very convenient for multiple reasons. The car had under-cover parking, it was nice to stay somewhere for a few days without having to pack up every morning to stay in a different hotel every night. The house has a great view of the ocean and of course the sunsets. The kitchen and laundry were adequately equiped and we did not need anything in addition to what the house provided. This is a nice quiet getaway if that is what you're looking for.
The only down sides were the beds were not that great and the speed limit on the road is 55 mph which makes it hard to turn off the highway. The house was hard to find in the dark, especially with traffic behind you. I can't say anything about the tv's, never turned them on.
One last thing, the wifi was GREAT. We did not have any problem connnecting and it was just like at home.

The beach house at Tillicum was a great vacation spot for our family. The layout was great for our 11 month old. She could crawl freely between all the rooms. The location is ideal, situated in the middle of the the most beautiful stretch of the coast. I would love to grab some hedge trimmers and go to work so that you can see the ocean when sitting in the hot tub and on the couch.

Well deserved R&R!

We come to the coast once a year for a week to relax. We leave our town in the Black Hills of SD during the annual motorcycle rally because it is so Craaazy:)
We love to hike, beachcomb, bike, drink good coffee and eat seafood and we find all that on the Oregon coast:D
We would love to stay at Beach House at Tillicum again:)

Great location for kids
We stayed 5 days, 4 nights with our 5 and 3 year year old boys and we had a wonderful time. The house is right next to the freeway, so there is some freeway noise, but it is also right next to Big Creek - which makes it an excellent location for kids. Our boys dug in the sand and played in Big Creek, which is the perfect size and depth for them. We also played in the ocean and there is a natural sand bar with water trapped on one side - which makes a perfect 'pool' for swimming (and was quite warm!). The house has a wrap-around deck with a door leading into the bathroom right next to the shower. We could undress the boys on the deck and they could step right into the shower - perfect!
I felt the kitchen wasn't very well appointed and was lacking some basics, but we'd definitely rent this house again - and just know to bring along some of the tools we need. Would have loved a working stereo/CD player, but that's about all that was missing.
One note - don't walk barefoot in the grass! Our 5 year old walked up from the beach barefoot and stepped into the yard and into some horrible prickle bush that covered the bottom of his feet with stickers. Lesson learned!
Another note - the spa at the Overleaf Lodge in Yachats is a great place for a massage.

Family Weekend at the Beach

The house was great. Based on the pictures on the website I was not expecting a house this nice. It was furnished nicely and was clean and comfortable. My only complaint is that we could not see the ocean from either the house or the hot tub simply because of the over grown bushes. It was a shame because 20 minutes with clippers would have made this a perfect house.
Thank you for the review. The gentleman that normally takes care of the bushes has been ill and now have a new guy taking care of it and has trimmed them all back to open the view up again.

A Great Place to Stay

We had a wonderful time at this beach house. It had a perfect location--just a short path to the wide expanse of beach! The views were incredible! The only fairly negative comment I have is that the mattress on the fold out couch was bad. Would probably have been okay for kids but not adults. The other beds were fine. Overall it was a great place to stay!
