Relaxing and unique

by Robert V.
Relaxing stay. Semi-secluded, very quiet, with an amazing view. We will definitely be back! It’s a very unique, well loved property.
Only suggestions, to make it an even better...... new baseboard heaters. The current ones make a lot of noise(clicking), which resonates through the house at night. Also, advise guests to bring binoculars.

Sweet Retreat

We saw whales! This sweet house had everything we needed to relax and stare at the ocean. Convenient yet very secluded location, amazing trees, hot tub with a great view and comfy beds. We'll be back.

Private Getaway

Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our short getaway to the Mountain Pacific Chalet on the Oregon coast. We enjoyed exploring nearby wilderness trails, the secluded nature of the property, walks along the beach, exploring tidepools, day trips to nearby towns, and the constant sound of the ocean waves. The property was well stocked and very clean. We would have appreciated screens on more of the windows so that we could have enjoyed opening them to the fresh air, but we made due. Also, note that the property is quite remote with no convenience stores in the immediate vicinity.

We stayed Tuesday - Monday in early June. The cabin is located near many amazing natural sites, so we enjoyed the time very much.

Perfect for Disappearing for a While

by Jeremy S.
If you and maybe a significant other feel the need to escape from the world for a while this is a perfect choice. Pack some food, maybe some wine, close the green gate behind you, turn off your phones, and stare out at the ocean whilst soaking in the hot tub.

Pictures can’t do this place justice.

by Alan T.
If you want ocean views and solitude this is the place. We saw seals from the living room. The hot tub is perfect and the cabin is everything it should be.
It was clean and well cared for.I’ll go back. Just an exceptional experience.

This is truly outstanding place to stay on the Oregon Coast. The accommodations are wonderful coupled with an incredible view of the ocean. In addition the rental agency that handles this cabin is enormously helpful.

Mountain Pacific Chalet

by William B.
The wife and I celebrated our 20 year anniversary at the Mountain Pacific Chalet. The house is quite rural so plan on bringing supplies from home if possible. The overall experience was very positive for us. There are stores and restaurants a short drive away as well.

The house was clean and the property is in great shape. Sitting outside we watched a pod of gray whales, the experience is very serene. Very little car noise and sitting inside you hear nothing from outside except the calming sounds of the Pacific.

One cannot put a price on the wonderful views the chalet provides. If you are contemplating a trip do it! It really is an escape form reality which will have you feeling very centered and relaxed while there.

Lovely Spot

Everything was perfect except the directions unclear in getting into house and it taking an hour to hear from emergency property help. Thought we would have to find other lodging, but once in we lived it.

Cozy cabin nestled between the forest and the ocean

by Gala M.
The Mountain Pacific Chalet was a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The chalet was private and well appointed, and bucked up against the Siuslaw National Forest with an excellent view of the ocean.

We particularly liked the outdoor hot tub where we could gaze up at the stars and listen to the surf, and the fact that the place was dog friendly.

If you decide to rent this little gem, don't miss out on the short hike the the giant tree that starts right at the chalet. You will not regret it!

We also recommend exploring Cape Perpetua not far from the rental.

Amazing stay on the coast

by Curt A.
The place is clean, well furnished and most of all, perfectly situated. The views are stunning, the hot tub location is perfect, and the trails are awesome. It's like having a mini 60's resort to yourself.

Stunning view!

by Rebeca B.
The view was even more stunning in-person than in the pictures. We got to enjoy two amazing sunsets from the hot tub. The house is very secluded with no neighbors. The interior is a little dated but the house was comfortable and had everything we needed. A few things to note -
- The upstairs bedroom is a loft area that is open to the living room. The upstairs bathroom is also open to the living room (there's a giant window with no glass separating the bathroom from the living room). So someone using that bathroom can clearly be heard by anyone in the living room. Also, that bathroom has no shower, just a tub.
- The trail from the house down to the beach is steep and has ropes that you hold on to as you walk down the sleep slopes.
- The check-in instructions provided by the management company were not specific to this house. They were generic instructions, so they were unclear to us and we had a hard time finding the lock box.

Overall we had an amazing stay and would definitely come back!

Peaceful, private getaway

by Lori H.
Wildfire smoke and fog notwithstanding, we thoroughly enjoyed our few days in the Mountain Pacific Chalet. It's in a great location, above the highway, and up a short, gated drive, a few minutes south of Yachats. The view from the chalet itself is gorgeous (when the air clears) and we loved sitting on the patio or in the hot tub, watching the surf below. We kept expecting a deer to walk out of the woods by the cabin, but no luck.

The interior of the chalet is a bit dated, but clean and comfy. It's well stocked with comfy linens and kitchen essentials and the appliances work well. The bathroom could use an update, but was serviceable for our low maintenance needs.

We wish we had been told that we would need to bring our own small propane bottles for the BBQ and plenty of firewood, kindling and paper. There is no vent hood over the stovetop so indoor cooking smells up the entire chalet. And the single working baseboard heater takes a while to heat the space, so a fire in the wood stove is pretty much a necessity when the temperature drops. Also, the main bed upstairs could really use a new mattress.

The real star here is the location and view. We will be back!

Wonderful Cabin in Dreamy Location!

by Jason W.
We had a blissful time at the Mountain Pacific Chalet. I can't emphasize enough how pristine the location is. It combines the best of an isolated forest cabin, with a front row seat to the beautiful ocean below. We watched the sunsets every evening from the hot tub, roasted s'mores in the wood stove, enjoyed the small deer which grazed right outside of the large and spacious windows. It was dreamy. The cabin has a rustic feel, a bit aged, but clean and well appointed. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

Very Rustic

by Chris S.
Property is AMAZING! House is very basic. The tub faucet wasn’t adequate and only delivered 4” of water before the hot water stopped. There is zero phone service except for a landline and the kitchen is basic at best. The view is second to none. We were notified before staying that the hot tub was out of order. There are only 2 windows that had screens, including the sliding door, so that beautiful mountain/ocean air was hard to come by. The furnishings looked like hand me downs, and while somewhat comfortable, nothing really matched. The wood burning stove was a great touch. Overall, if this property was properly maintained and updated, it would be 5 stars all day long. It was adequate for us.

Great location!

by Sharon R.
The place isn't fancy, but the setting is incredible. Great view of the ocean & backs up to woods with trails. The hot tub is private with an ocean view. The large tub in the master is hard to use because it takes too long to fill it. Water pressure is really slow there. Overall a great place to stay if the view and being close to nature is important to you.

Our stay

The house was nice but pretty small. But had everything we needed. Except we are huge sports fans and neither the World Series or local oregon duck football game were available to watch on satellite system. We were disappointed.

Whether you're looking for relaxation or adventure this beautiful A-frame cabin will meet all your needs. Full of amenities...complete kitchen, washer/dryer, hot tub with amazing ocean views, and a cozy woodstove. Enjoy sunset views from the large windows in the great room or several nature trails right out of the patio door. Location is everything with this cabin. Close to numerous beaches, hiking trails, lighthouses, Cape Perpetua, Sea Lion Caves, Yachats, Florence, and Newport. This beautiful cabin will not disappoint. I have made 4 trips to this cabin and will keep coming back.

September 20th 2019 Visit to Mountain Pacific Chalet

by Craig F.
We were so very pleased with everything about the weekend and the Mountain Pacific Chalet. We were surprised at how secluded it was, we had hoped for that to be the case, but were surprised all weekend that the only visitors we had were a pair of birds. Even our dog enjoyed how mellow it was. We are definitely planning on going back again and staying in the same property with different guests. We loved that all of the things we did outside of the house too, the hikes just outside and the other outdoor activities very close to the chalet. We will definitely see you again soon!
September 4, 2019 - Escapia

The view can't get get much better!

The view from the property was simply spectacular and we loved the secluded feel! The place was pretty clean, could use a good dusting though in many places. Kitchen is well stocked and appliances are all in working condition (stove/oven looked new). Very nice having the washer and dryer. Would have liked screens on the windows and on the sliding was warm and uncomfortable trying to sleep! Outdoor chairs need replaced, but are useable. Grill was disgusting (is stored in the laundry room)and we cleaned best we could, but very glad we brought grill foil along. Also, both times we stopped by the office, nobody was there (it was during "open" hours) so we ended up having to buy our own propane. Grounds were kind of messy, especially around the trash collection was clear the lawn hadn't been groomed prior to our stay. Hot tub was very nice to sit in during the evenings to gaze at the stars and ocean. We explored the trails around the property, pretty cool, but be warned...the big tree trail has a hornets nest somewhere near the big tree. My wife was stung day 1 (didn't think much of it then) but day 2 our son was walking the dog and him and the dog were attacked...luckily we had Benadryl and helped both of them get by and avoid further medical attention. It's a bit tricky to get down to the beach without going across private properties, but well worth the effort! The trail with ropes is not as hard as it looks, but wouldn't recommend using unless you are in good shape (you do have to hold on and I have missing skin on my hands to prove it). If you take a right (walking) out of the driveway and follow the road until you get to where a guard-rail starts, there is a trail there (climb over the guard-rail) that gets you to the beach pretty safely (we did it with a dog and a 6-month old in tow). This is definitely a place you stay at for the view (and we'd stay again), just don't expect to be "wowed" otherwise.

Amazing location but issues

by Michele M.
We really enjoyed this place. Could sit and watch the ocean all day. Two main issues that we ran into. First, and not the owners fault, the drive way is rough and steep. We arrived after dark and we in a sedan that had trouble getting up the drive. After daylight we could see how to move a little to avoid ruts. Secondly and much more important to us was the non working dishwasher that had gross smelly water in it. We called the rental company and left a message about the issue but didn’t even get a call back. While I would love to come back here for a lengthy stay I am totally put off by a rental company flat out not responding.

Great view -- house needs a lot of updates

by Olivia L.
The view is amazing and location a prime spot. The house has a "old" smell though. And, a part of the shower rod fell down on my sister mid-shower. Luckily she was not hurt. The carpet needs replacing, stove and oven weren't working at the time -- but apparently were going to be replaced the next week.

Outstanding Cabin overlooking the sea

by Ivan R.
This is a truly wonderful place to stay on the coast. The amenities are great. The view is outstanding. The privacy it exceptional. We will definitely rent again if the opportunity arises. It is clear that the owner cares deeply about this property.

Great location and view, terrible condition

by Dewey N.
We arrived to a locked gate and with no cell reception in this area had to drive into town and find the rental management office. Thay apologized for not having the property open and informed us the dishwasher was not working, waiting on a part. Upon arriving at the property again, we discovered six light bulbs burned out. I was able to find some replacements in a closet and replaced a couple, but the living room fan/light was too high, so we were left with only one light for the whole room. The second of two bulbs in the bedroom light burned out on the second day. When we went to cook dinner, we discovered the oven was broken and couldn't be used. After returning to the rental office, I was able to negotiate a partial refund, but the overall condition of the property was disappointing.

Good location and lodge, weird fees and rules

by Alex K.
The lodge is beautiful and right on the water, but still tucked away and quiet past 101.

I thought the fees were misleading as wen paid roughly double what the advertised price was plus they charge a $100 cleaning fee and then make us clean the entire house, which was strange. I also would have liked if they could have given a little info about the hiking trails on the property.

The last weird thing is they have a coffee machine, coffee filters, and a coffee grinder, but only k cups are provided and no Keurig machine. Not make or break but really weird.

Fourth visit to the Mountain Pacific Chalet

by David P.
This was our fourth visit to the chalet and we will continue to come back. The beauty and solitude keeps drawing us back. We started referring to it as our home away from home. Everything about it is as described. The only complaint is it could use a deep clean and some TLC. New bathroom curtains to replace the mold covered curtains would be a start. There also appears to be sheetrock damage in the bathroom due to a leaky toilet. The entire place could use a dusting, starting with the top of the refrigerator, the bread wrapper clips and dirt are unappealing. Somebody before us put an X in the dust on the end table and it was still there. As stated, we will continue to visit the chalet but just feel a little effort in cleanliness would go a long way.

Birthday and anniversary vacation

by Dave S.
Beautiful location. We have stayed at the Mountain Pacific Chalet Several times before. Quiet, serene, comfortable. Beautiful views of the ocean. Hiking trails were fairly well maintained. The one drawback on our most recent visit was the home was not cleaned thoroughly, with dust build on furniture, cobwebs, spiders in bathroom and dog hair on furniture as well as obvious stains on front slider where an animal was pressing it's face against glass. There was a musty smell throughout the house, indicating it had been closed up for a while. Also, the upstairs jacuzzi tub was in-operable. The Ocean Odyssey staff was notified of all. I informed that an adjustment would be given, but as of this date, none has been made.
Wi-Fi was only available for one day out of our three day stay. Overall we enjoyed our visit aside from the above mentioned issues.

Love this place!

by Janice W.
We LOVE vacationing here! We love the privacy and quiet that it offers, nestled up to the National Forest, with a sweeping view of the ocean just across the highway. It's up on a hill, so the view is great. It was very clean upon arrival, could use a few lightbulbs replaced, but otherwise it's in fine shape. A nice, sturdy home that can take the wind and rain! The kitchen is well-stocked, furniture is in good condition.

Loved the location and the house. Oven was dirty - had clean it before using. Also could use some deep cleaning - decorate pots hanging in kitchen - why? needed to be taken down and washed

Oregon Vacation

by Kimberly B.
The rental is in a great location. Very private and has the best of both worlds with the forest and ocean.
There are a lot of positive aspects to the home but there were a few things were disappointed in.
The home could use a lot of updates. Sheets and towels are very old. The home could use a really good deep cleaning. The water pressure is horrible and the jetted tub can't be used because it would take forever to fill up.
Overall we had a good stay but did choose to leave a day early for the reasons described above.

Million dollar view - dollar store interior

by Linda E S.
The basic structure is sound, and the view is fantastic, and dogs were comfortable. However, there were glass shards in the kitchen and carpeting. The house was not clean-there was food on the floor in the kitchen along with the glass. Cooking utensils and silverware old, funky and suitable for a children's picnic set. Pots without handles. Furniture dated (1970s) and rickety, and way too many chairs all over the living area. No screens on sliding doors which had to be kept closed per signs. Towels with holes.Hot tub top restraint had been tampered with as if being used by someone not staying there. House perhaps intended for use by a large group of party-hearty people.Sign on wood stove telling you not to use if you aren't sure how, but there are no instructions and all stoves are different.Small portable BBQ not clean and one propane cylinder was empty. The house needs thorough cleaning and updating from top to bottom, and maintenance needs to be improved.Got entry codes 24 hours before visit only after asking for them.

Amazing Stay

by Clinton B.
Recommend this home to everyone, the rope access to the beach was awesome, kids had a wonderful time.
May 26, 2014 - Escapia

Location was not for us

The view was great and enjoying that view from the hot tub was nice. The two trails into the mountains were enjoyable, though sometimes hard to follow. I was the only one to take the Seal point trail as any trail to the beach consisted of crossing the 101, and we weren't doing that with both of our dogs. That trail had a nice view at the end but wouldn't do again due to the tight confines of the brush. A map of the trails would be nice to have inside the Chalet, I don't think we ever found all of them, especially the beach tails since you have to cross the 101 and walk a ways before the trail continues.
The house itself has 2 double beds and one rock hard queen. The bathroom upstairs, there is just no way around it, that is just weird. In no way shape or form do I want to be walking up the stairs and see my SO other on the toilet or vice versa through a window opening, no view from the tub is worth that. Not to mention the issues with using that bathroom at night, with reflections off windows and mirrors. A nice curtain placement would solve the privacy issue if needed.

Mountain Pacific Chalet

by Beth B.
The hot tub with ocean view is great! This house is very private, so good for groups that might make a lot of noise or that want outdoor privacy. The inside is open except for 1 bedroom downstairs, so not a lot of indoor privacy. Cell phone coverage is bad, so take note of the phone # at the house.

Cozy, Intimate cabin

We enjoyed staying at this breathtaking view cabin. It was comfortable and located perfectly situated near trails and beaches. Easy drive to nearby towns too! One caution - it will sleep 6-8, but using the "master bath" in less than intimate company may be awkward as it has a large opening adjacent to the tub (from the loft) overlooking the main living area. If you are just a couple or a family without modesty issues - ENJOY! Otherwise, you may only be using the master bath sink. 🙂
January 14, 2014 - Escapia

Just as relaxing as can be...

We had a lovely time at this house. It's cozy and so wonderfully quiet. Truly a special property.
January 5, 2014 - Escapia

The view is what makes this place...

Mountain Pacific Chalet is a lovely out of the way retreat. It really has 1 closed bedroom and then the entire upstairs is a sleeping loft with 2 large beds. Don't plan on privacy as the bathroom upstairs is exposed by a large open window (so you can see the ocean from the jetted hot tub) and the downstairs occupants can hear everything that happens in that bathroom.
Beach Access is limited as the closest trail requires climbing down a rope which may not be suitable for many travelers. But you can go just 1 mile down the road for a nice maintained beach access area.
This property had a variety of cooking pans and dishes etc but perhaps not as well stocked as other homes. If you are a cook: be sure to bring your key essentials (including salt etc).
The one "complaint" was that the small bedroom had a consistent damp/musty smell and when you start to look in the corners, it was pretty dirty. We also had an evening critter stop by as we awoke to mouse droppings in the kitchen every morning. You can expect this in a home by the ocean and is tough to avoid. With a view like this: it could be overlooked.
January 5, 2014 - Escapia

Whale/Elk abounded from Hot tub View

Pacific Chalet is a wonderful isolated place to stay with the hot tub a bonus! Elk one morning next to tub; whales swimming south; warm cozy home. Property Management needs to follow up on the cleaning of the kitchen pots/drawers; mice are a problem; and burner so dirty, a fire started below the pan! Everything else in house clean...last visit a week ago written comment on electrical wall outlet overheating so hope owner gets that message as it would be shame to lose the house as I will return again. And finally need instructions for DVD/CD/VHS system to work.

Paradise on the Coast

by Anthony R.
The Chalet was in excellent condition in a beautiful and secluded location. The location on the coast is ideal for it's natural beauty. My only concern would be the difficulty in putting the hot tub cover back on after use. I was a single traveler and found the cover very heavy and the deck very slippery. I almost slid off a few times trying to replace the heavy cover by myself which could be dangerous. Other than that the hot tub was extremely enjoyable, clean, the correct temperature, and in the most beautiful location overlooking the ocean. I would not hesitate to rent this chalet again but if the top were more manageable it would be just perfect. The staff at Ocean Odyssey was great and very helpful. The oregon coast and beach near the Chalet is truly amazing.

Beach get away

The location and view were outstanding. Nice to have trails and beautiful forest around as well as privacy. In the house, furniture was outdated, kitchen not well stocked and the towels smelled moldy. It could be a beautiful place with a few updates and cleaner linens

Relaxing vacation destination

We really enjoyed the location and the view. The house was mostly well equipped. We had everything we needed to prepare simple meals. A hair dryer would have been handy to have. At first glance the house appeared to be clean, but we noticed dog hairs on our clothes and we found some ground up popcorn and more dog hair on the floor in the living room. We do not have a dog, nor did we eat popcorn. The bathrooms were surface clean, but I feel the whole place could stand a good overall deep cleaning.
The hot tub had been freshly cleaned and treated and was very nice to have.
We loved falling asleep to the sound of the ocean and enjoyed the beach access.
Overall it was a very nice relaxing stay.

Electronics

VCR was not hooked up. Didn't realize why it wouldn't work until day 3. Because of the age of the electronics, we had a VERY difficult time making things work. The remotes seemed to have a mind of their own. And....the office suggested at one point we use the TV remote to change the input but there was no TV remote. Luckily, unplugging and plugging back in gave us TV again. Very frustrating during football season.
Thank you for your comments. We are working on getting the electronics upgraded.

Best Location on the Coast.

by Laura E.
Mountain Pacific Chalet is in the perfect location on the OR Coast. Situated near the national forest and just a short walk to the beach. Short drive to Yachaets, Florence, or Waldport. It was pet friendly and the dogs loved going on the trails near the house. The house is probably best for no more than six people, there is one private bedroom, and a loft with two beds (one queen and one double). While there is a bathroom upstairs in the loft, with a great jacuzzi tub, there is only one shower--which is in the downstairs bathroom. The kitchen is spacious, the woodburning stove was cozy, and the hot tub was the perfect relaxation in the cool morning or early evenings! Overall, I would recommend Mountain Pacific Chalet, and will plan on staying there again.

LOVE this location!

by Jan W.
We have returned to this rental many times because it is our very favorite location. We love the privacy up on the hill with the woods adjacent and the wonderful view of the ocean, with the hot tub right out there where you can see the ocean and the trees. It is a comfy home (although if you were to go when it is very cold you would HAVE to supplement with the wood stove). The upstairs bathroom is a little funky in that there is no closure to the opening by the jacuzzi tub which has an awesome view of the ocean. (This could be a bit awkward if you weren't with just family.) The renting process was super-easy. We will definitely be back!

Spectacular location, awesone views, hot tub, wood burning stove

we had a wonderful time at the Chalet the location was perfect, the hiking trails were breath taking and the views were second to none. We are looking forward to another vacation in your beautiful state. Did I mention the fabulous hot tub that we used everyday!! The only recommendation I have is to upgrade the kitchen and bathroom. The shower downstairs has issues. We Thank you!!

This was probably the most relaxing vacation I've had in a while. The property is situated in an ideal location for both view and privacy, two things which you can rarely ever get in combination. I was able to enjoy a clear view of the night sky from the comfort of a hot tub, but not feel so out of the way to where I couldn't boot up my laptop and check my email using a solid WiFi connection if so desired. I will definitely be staying here again.

MOUNTAIN PACIFIC CHALET

by Glenn S.
Great Oregon Coast experience.Loved the hot tub overlooking the ocean.Property was clean and neat.
Entertainment center needs updating to flat panel TV
with instructions for use.Though we did not need it
"SLEEPING for EIGHT" is a stretch when a blow up
mattress is part of the eight.
Ocean Odyssey were very accommodating.I would gladly return.

Great location.....wonderful home!!

by Anna B.
We were extremely pleased by our experience with ocean odyssey rental staff and property. My only suggestion would be for new sheets on the bed, several were "pilly"....scratched the skin!!

Breathtaking Views

by Kate L.
This cabin is perfect for a romantic getaway! The ocean views from the house are spectacular -- truly breathtaking. The hot tub is perfectly situated to allow sweeping views of the Pacific and the freedom of being in your own private woods. We felt like we were sitting in a resort commercial every time we sat in the hot tub! The cabin is cozy and comfortable cabin and very quiet, although close to a major highway. There are several beautiful short hikes from the property to the beach and to see an ancient tree. There’s a national forest a mile or two away that offers a magnificent 6 and 10 mile hike and many shorter hikes.

Awesome Place!

by Andrew and Emily A.
The view is AMAZING! This place is cozy and has a lot of amenities. Our family of 6 (2 adults, 4 kids) were very happy to spend a week here. It's a great place to relax and hang out. My kids really appreciated the trails the owners put in (nice touch). We love this area of Oregon, enjoyed our stay and hope to go back again. The only suggestions I would have are: 1. Be careful to close the garbage cans all the way- there are critters that will get into it at night, and 2. The upstairs bathroom has a lovely jet-spa tub that is open to the area below, so you can view the ocean. This is great for couples, but not so great for large families who don't want to see their siblings using the bathroom! : ) Other than these two suggestions, I could not say anything negative about my stay or the home. I would recommend this awesome getaway spot to anyone!

World's Best View: Right From Your Hot Tub!

We spent an amazing week at Mountain Pacific Chalet. We loved the private, wilderness setting and the views of the ocean from everywhere (even the bath!): simply spectacular!

We had looked forward to exploring the 5 trails detailed on the website and in emails, and so were sorry to discover that they were very steep and overgrown and not at all suitable for families to use. However, beautiful sandy beaches are just a few minutes drive away.

We found the chalet's location to be remarkable with day trips including riding a sand buggy on the dunes, touring a restored lighthouse from the 1890's, visiting the Sea Lion Caves, crabbing on our own boat, tidal pool walks, numerous picturesque towns to explore all less than an hour away.

I would have liked to have known in advance that there is no cell phone reception in the area, but the chalet has wireless for visitors like me who find it hard to totally "unplug"!

All in all, we had a magical family vacation with the chalet a picture perfect base from which to explore the beautiful Oregon coast. We're already planning next year's trip back and will most definitely stay at Mountain Pacific Chalet again.
