SUMMARY:Newport Symphony Orchestra: Battle of Batons II
DESCRIPTION:Come to the Battle of Batons II\, the outrageous musical event in which area high schools students compete by conducting the Newport Symphony Orchestra to win the title of Grand Baton Winner and the amazing trophy that accompanies it! \nThe 2016 Battle of Batons\, presented by David Ogden Stiers\, will happen on Feb. 20\, 2016 at 7 pm\, at the PAC. Six combatants (young people competing) will conduct the Newport Symphony to win the trophy and title. This is a fundraiser for the NSO Endowment and is done “tongue in check”\, except for the music. Each combatant is presented by local celebs with costume and comedy. Bribes are welcome for our judges (which will go to the fund) who will make the final selection of the winner. \nThis event was begun in 2014 with a very successful evening of entertainment and fun. It is done every other year and sponsorship is greatly encouraged and applauded from local businesses as well as corporate businesses. \nCome and have a wonderful time!
